Brick red cycle routes in Nakskov
BYPAD Modul: Bicycle infrastructure and safety Nakskov   (Denmark)
Nakskov’s cycling facilities mainly were developed between 1987 and 1993 as part of an experimental project for the Danish government, whose aims included a 60 per cent cut in traffic accidents by 2000 and a general improvement of the urban environment.

Implementation

One of the means was to be the segregation of cycling and heavy-goods traffic, while cycling was to be promoted by restrictions on car-parking, pro-bike publicity campaigns, a network of cycle routes and supplementary facilities such as cycleparks and a loan scheme.
